Since 2006 Daniel de Jesús has been recording music that is both virtuosic in its cellistic sensibilities and unique its approach to the art of pop music. El Oculto is a collection of music that encompasses the evolution of de Jesús’ musical palette and deepening study of mysticism and spirituality through song.

Daniel de Jesús is a musician who has worked extensively with artists and musicians like David Antonio Cruz, Rasputina, Smoke Fairies, Courtlyn Carr, Zelazowa (founders of Indie on the Move), Composer Chris Lastovicka, and much more.

2006 - Songs from the subconscious

This debut album was a collection of music written in de Jesús’ teen years. Triumphant in its approach to modern rock, From The Subconscious married classical stylings with soaring vocals and heavy guitar riffs.

2010 - Hymns of the New Age

(tracks 4 & 10)

This demo never saw its initial manifestation of de Jesús’ first electronic album, but all of the ideas and lusciousness of the strings are captured brilliantly in this lo-fi production. An illustration of life after death, Hymns of The New Age breaks down the barriers between pop and sacred music to create a vision of the netherworld that is luminous and haunting.

2011 - Music for Interior Castles; The Life of Saint Teresa de Avila.

Inspired by Bernini’s sculpture Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, de Jesús’ creates a musical biography based on “The Life,” Avila’s confession that is the most valuable text of Christian mysticism. In this album, de Jesús explores Teresa's thoughts and life, exploring themes of love and religious phantasmagoria. The album is in itself a celebration of the experience of ecstasy; The marriage of the soul and the body overwhelmed by the sensual touch of divination.

2016 - La Dolorosa

La Dolorosa is a collection of songs inspired by the cult of the Virgin in Latin America. Each song finds it's inspiration from prayers, stories of apparitions, and the collective fascination with the image and drama of the crying Virgin. It is my hope that this music gives you access into the world where the matriarch dominates spirituality. La Virgen in the Latin American subconscious adopts the legacies of the goddesses that live our indigenous DNA. Pachamama, Coatlicue, Oshún, and others all exist as one maternal energy that gives us the desire for beauty and comforts us in our darkest hours.
